History is more than just names and dates.
People who say they don’t like history likely just think of it as a collection of names, dates, and places. There’s no context to that information.
History is STORY.
People do things. They have reasons for doing those things. Discovering those reasons, and relating them to current happenings, is fascinating.
The WHY of things provides some context to those fascinating people and places. Something happened every day. The people who did those things on those dates had an impact. This will tell some of those stories.

Much of history is unwritten, or has been destroyed over time. So much has been lost to the sands of time. Humans have existed for millions of years, yet writing that documents our existence has only been around for a few thousand years. What did humanity do in those early, early days? Or what was written down in some form, but due to time, negligence, or simple nature, faded away? The old saying that “History is written by the victors” is also quite true. Winners get the power, and tell the story how they want, suppressing the records of those they vanquish.
Sometimes pinpointing a specific date (or even year) can be impossible.

About Me
I have far too many degrees in History for my own good. I minored in History in college, then got a Master’s in History for grad school, and, not knowing when to quit, worked towards my PhD in History.
I did tons of research during all that, both on the topic I was studying and things related (and sometimes not related). I read history books for fun even now. I love history. It’s filled with fun facts and quirky people just trying to survive. I love telling people about history, and all those fun tidbits that have (mostly) gone by the wayside.
